EDIT: I took a suggestion from ~Metalhead71 and re-uploaded a version of this that doesn't include the paper edges.
Probably one of my favorite watercolors I've done. Once again, it was for art class using the "Stories" theme, but this one's special since it's not related to any specific story. Rather, it's a tribute to that unnamed prince, who-- despite all odds-- perseveres through traps and demons to rescue the girl he doesn't even know.
I used my brother as a reference for this one (as usual), and I was also heavily inspired by ~fallout161's N I K E.
I like this one the best of your recent deviations. The plant....thing is very well done: great colors, development, life. The sword is also very nice (and awkwardly held XD). My only crit is that the cuts look a little too clean, which is different than the feel of the piece. But I really like it.

What kills me is that the digital camera I used to upload this killed some of the detail... Ah well. As for the cut... I think your right. Even though I used paint to make it, it was added on impulsively, due to the prodding of my neighbor to make it more graphic.
Thank you, Zach! I had my brother literally run around in the rain with his foil to make this piece. The sword is held awkwardly, but I think it's in a realistic way, since, well, that's how James was holding his sword in the photograph. And yeah, the cut is too clean. I have to agree with you there. Vickee was prodding me to add more gore, so I did that. And when I went to make the paint more jaggy and splattered, I stopped myself since I figured I'd overdone the cut anyway. I shouldn't be making excuses, but that's what happened.
Once again, thanks for your lovely critique. Makes me smile.
It looks great, my only critique is that the edges are obvious, so instead of the vines looking like they are off screen as well, it kind of breaks the illusion. I don't just mean taking a picture of it either, I meant on the actual paper. Other then that though, I really enjoyed it.
